Climate Action Plans

Last Wednesday, April 26, 2023, Climate and Energy Minister Rob Jetten held his first climate press conference. It is intended that a series of such press conferences will follow. In them, he will update us on the implementation of climate plans. A €35 billion climate fund has been established by this administration. Of this, €28 billion is now earmarked. It is therefore good that society is informed about the progress of the implementation of the plans. Mind you, this has nothing to do with the nitrogen crisis. It is about combating global warming, especially through CO2 emissions.

Tax Office suspends processing final assessments and objections box 3 income pending Supreme Court rulings

The Tax Office has announced that it is temporarily suspending the processing of final assessments for 2021 and 2022 relating to box 3 income. This specifically concerns assessments where the box 3 income consists of more than just bank deposits, such as income from shares or real estate. In addition, the processing of objections regarding box 3 income for the years 2017 through 2021 will also be suspended.

Shifting assets and compensation rights

During relationships, wealth shifts quickly occur. This happens when purchasing a home, remodeling, or paying off a money loan, for example. By mixing assets, a right to compensation can arise. Compensation rights can arise between private assets (cohabitants) or between private assets and a matrimonial community of property (registered partner and marriage).

Insurer foresees bankruptcy wave due to corona debts

The number of bankruptcies in the Netherlands is expected to rise 52 percent this year, credit insurer Allianz Trade says after research. This makes our country the global leader. On average, 21 percent more companies worldwide are expected to go bankrupt this year.

Departure James Robinson

As many of you know, since January 1, 2018, we shared our office building with our tenants from James Robinson. After 5 years of pleasant cooperation, the rental agreement has come to an end. The reason is that we simply outgrew each other, which is obviously a positive development from both sides.

I had promised not to vote. I kept it, despite the frequent flare-ups of conscience. My vote could not stop the political landslide. At least that is what the newspaper called it. Instead of a dancing Kaag on the table now a dancing Caroline on the stage.

Transfer tax

On 1 January 2021, the starter's exemption (0% rate) was introduced. Due to this exemption, homebuyers between the ages of 18 and 35 pay no transfer tax once if they buy a property of up to €440,000. The property must then be used "other than temporarily" as their main residence and this must be documented in a declaration.

Actual return in box 3, or not?

Following the Supreme Court's ruling on box 3 at the end of 2021, also known as the 'Christmas ruling', the government tried to revise the taxation in box 3 by introducing the flat-rate savings variant. This flat-rate savings variant approximates actual returns, but is still based on flat rates.
