For 15 years, politicians have been trying to reform the pension system. So there must be something wrong with the current system. Fixing what is wrong is apparently very complex. I heard the chairman of the pension funds' umbrella organisation say that we have the best pension system in the world. So why should it be different? In my memory, the criticism of the system once came from the left and had everything to do with the fact that the young were co-paying for the old.
You know the drill: you open your investment app and see red numbers. Another drop. Your stomach turns and you wonder: should I act now? But just as you shouldn't panic when you see the value of your home temporarily drop, it is important to keep a cool head when investing.

Supreme Court rulings have increasingly tightened employers' liability for employees on the road. Case law has determined that employer liability goes beyond the obligation to provide a safe workplace and safe tools.
The position of self-employed workers in the Netherlands has been the subject of debate for years, and the 2024 court rulings caused another stir. Both the Deliveroo judgment by the Supreme Court and the Uber judgment by the Court of Justice of the EU confirm that some working relationships have been wrongly classified as “self-employed collaboration”, while in practice there is an employer-employee relationship and therefore employment.

Winter is over and spring is in full swing. The first blossom colours the landscape and the magnolia draws all the attention in many a garden. The downside for lazy garden owners is that the grass and weeds are starting to grow again and the terrace tiles have come out of winter looking rather drab.
Another postponement... The introduction of the ‘lump sum’ scheme has been postponed again. This means that pensioners will only be able to withdraw up to 10% of their accrued pension or annuity capital in one lump sum from 1 July 2026. The scheme is designed to provide additional financial flexibility, for example for a major expense at retirement.
