Weather forecast or Trump

I had wanted to talk to you this time about the quality of weather forecasts. For it has long struck me that our meteorologists are not doing well. Is that an underdeveloped science? Shouldn't we start giving that some encouragement? Of course, the name meteorology is already one to trip over. Imagine not being able to pronounce the name of your profession at a birthday party, how embarrassing can it be?

Maybe that's why talented young people choose other studies. I also feel sorry for those people who have to present the weather on TV. When they start telling you what the weather was like the previous day, you feel very sorry for them. Confidence in the forecast for the next few days is then no longer credible. In my time at the National Audit Office, I was allowed to experience the entrance of IT, even AI we were talking about more than 30 years ago. My prediction then was that we would start behaving like the meteorologists: while it is raining tell us that the sun is shining, because the system says so. Now look around you. Do you really think IT nerds are capable of building algorithms that can replace reality?

My grandfather knew exactly what kind of weather was coming, he was a farmer. Who will look again at the clouds and the color of the sky, feel the wind speed and direction, the humidity and the position of the moon?

But no, the news of the past few days has been dominated by Donald and Elon. Are they heroes, geniuses or dangerous madmen? In any case, they are master con artists because they have amassed fortunes that are unprecedented. Then, by definition, you have sold hot air. But a master crook is also a genius and can have a positive contribution to society. Americans have found that their society is in need of a major cleaning. And from the choices offered, they then choose Trump. That is where democracy immediately ends. From then on, they will have to accept 4 years of dictatorship. The difference with Xi, Putin and Von der Leyen is thus made.

But are Americans free to choose?

The astronomical sum of more than a quarter of a billion dollars Musk donated to Trump's campaign was spent on brainwashing and propaganda. And the American went to the polls and crossed his choice of his own free will...

Your wife sits next to you and has to listen to that sermon with you as well. Surely you can only take comfort in the thought that only yesterday you gave your relatives eternal pardon.
