Emergency kit

It will not have escaped your notice. There is no reason to bivouac peacefully under the tree for the next few days. There is a serious threat of war and it is coming from Russia. The great prophet Mark Rutte told us. No wise men from the East, but bombs and shells. What he bases his predictions on is not yet entirely clear. Will long-range missiles be deployed on Europe's eastern borders? Are major forces already drawing together? Have concrete threats been made from Moscow that they will invade our regions and subject us to their doctrine?

It seems corona again, Mark Rutte thrives in crisis situations. He considers himself a master at managing a crisis. Maybe he is, but the tricky thing is that he first causes the crisis and then takes on the hero role. You won't hear from him about the major asylum problem in Europe. Nor about the economic crisis descending upon us. He is now of another parish, that of NATO. Pastor Rutte speaks for his own parish. His midnight Mass has been weeks before that of Christmas. Amazing is how he manages to get the sheep to join him again. No one even looks back to see how he has left our country, no one realizes his interest in the threat of war. No, we talk after him.

The war in Ukraine is over

I'm sure that at the front not all the soldiers have been informed about this yet and are therefore still firing at each other, but the election of Trump was a gamechanger. A truce in Gaza is near, again that same gamechanger. Syria has been liberated. Refugee flows go the other way in 2025. It will still be quiet in the Netherlands. Of course, these are all disturbing news for the NATO boss. Imagine if this caused us to cut defense spending, as has happened under his governments. Then NATO will also have to cut into its own flesh. Wouldn't it then be smart to start confronting the people with major threats from the East? People my age experienced the Cold War intensely. Of the so-called Russian aggression that has been presented to us for years, nothing has transpired. Yes, Rutte was the first to explain in the media that Russia was the aggressor in the Ukraine war. No contemplation of the actions of Mr. Zelensky, who in my view mainly made the best use of his acting talents developed in Moscow and had little in the way of a political record. He was Biden's mouthpiece. With the election of Trump, the days of Zelensky and Rutte are numbered. Trump will not have forgotten the White House scene where Rutte went against him.

The Supplies

I took a look around the house to see what supplies we can fall back on when the Russians come. Red wine more than enough, white wine more than enough, vodka I need to replenish a bit, cigarettes for 2 weeks is too little, chips and cocktail nuts enough. We have to be a little frugal with the candles this Christmas. Garbage bags also ample, toilet paper could be a bit more. I will take those with me at the weekend. All in all, that emergency kit will be just fine. And as for the rest, I'm pulling out my wisdom from the 1980s again: if they start throwing nuclear bombs, I'm going to sit in the street with a chair.
