From 5 September 2025, the Chamber of Commerce (KVK) will amend the SBI codes in the Trade Register. These codes indicate what a company does and are used by government agencies, banks and insurers to determine, for example, whether you are entitled to subsidies, pension obligations, loans or a certain insurance premium.
Why this change?
The SBI codes are revised approximately every 15 years at European level. New business activities such as platform services and sustainability applications have emerged, while others such as video libraries have disappeared. The update ensures that the codes are once again in line with reality and more comparable with other European countries.
What should you do?
Before 5 September, check whether the description of your business activities is still correct. You can do this via My Chamber of Commerce. If your activity description is not up to date, an incorrect SBI code may be linked to your company. This could have consequences for your financing, insurance and tax obligations.
